A luxurious silk carpet with a metal thread brooch in the central medallion as well as in the four field corners. The bright burgundy field is richly decorated with palmettes, flowering shrubs and birds of paradise. A clear colouring with pastel shades and precise pattern shapes characterise this fine knotting work. The yellow ground of the main border with a large palmette vine is remarkable. Representative work for high demands. Provenance: Private property, southern Germany. - Min. old-age sp. newly secured on all sides, fringes added. Otherwise well preserved with full silk pile.
