Later iron level. The horse head goes back to two ancient models. On the one hand to the so-called "Medici-Riccardi", today Museo Archeologico in Florence and on the other hand to the "Protome Carafa", today Museo Archeologico in Naples. These two heads are also closely related to the equestrian statue of Gattamelata (created 1447-1453) in front of the Church of Sant'Antonio in Padua by Donatello, considered the first monumental equestrian statue of the Renaissance.
