J./ 1885, mounted in gold, within a later surround of cushion-shaped sapphires, set with similarly-shaped, old brilliant, single and rose-cut diamond foliate accents, cushion-shaped, old brilliant and single-cut diamonds approx. 0.45ct total, later brooch fitting, length 3.5cm Footnotes: Anne Emily Innes-Ker (née Spencer-Churchill), Duchess of Roxburghe, VA, OBE (1854-1923) was the daughter of the Duke and Duchess of Marlborough and an aunt of Winston Churchill. She served as Mistress of the Robes to Queen Victoria between 1883-1885 and the present lot commemorates the final year of this role. During the First World War, the Duchess of Roxburghe served as President of the Haddingtonshire branch of the British Red Cross. She was awarded an OBE in 1919. Queen Victoria created The Royal Order of Victoria and Albert in 1862.
