A tall ten-fold screen Of light wood construction and backed to the reverse with stiff card, the front of each panel mounted with five naturalistically rendered watercolours on silk depicting animals, large and small including; bear, ox, monkey, rat, mice, squirrel, deer, ram, goat etc, some bearing short inscriptions and some bearing red seal marks, (all images foxed and some torn, one bearing a date of 1873). each image 30cm x 40cm, each full panel 201cm high, 43cm wide. Footnotes: Provenance: Offered for sale by descendants of Sir James John Trevor Lawrence. By family repute these watercolours came from his collection. A famous horticulturist, he was a well-known collector of objets d'art, particularly oriental and especially Japanese art.
