Large Chinese 18 Century Cobalt Monochrome Porcelain Temple Jar and Cover with Lotus-bud finial, the inside in clear glaze with a brown line wash at the jar mouth and outside edge of cover; the glaze ending neatly at the unglazed knife cut foot, a luting line to mid-section visible inside and outside, the base unglazed; now with an old bronze band to the neck and Ruyi-shaped bracket hinge & Ruyi-shaped part lock plate to the cover, probably of Chinese workmanship. Total height with cover 23 inches (58.5 cm.). Age related wear to surfaces and professional over-spray to jar, the inside with small, short star hairlines possibly firing bursts not visible outside, 5 small screws holding the bronze neck band in place and 6 small screws holding the Cover bronze Ruyi bracket hinge and the corresponding bronze Ruyi bracket part of the now missing lock plate from the neck.
