A Highly Important Repoussé Figure of a Sitting Lama Sino-Tibetan, 17th/18th cent. Firegilt copper, executed in four parts. The gilt sculpture is depicting a Tibetan lama, seated in vajrasana on an oval lotos base with his right hand in 'vitarka mudra' while the left rests on his lap, clad in a richly decorated monastic garb and his face displaying a serene expression. Half-round, stepped base with rich ornamental decor. Min. chipped. Overall height 50 cm. - Provenance: For circa 30 years in private collection, Lower Saxony. - Exzellente feuervergoldete Repoussé-Figur eines sitzenden Lama auf Podest Sino-Tibetisch, 17./18. Jh. Kupfer, feuervergoldet. 4-tlg. gearbeitet. Die Skulptur zeigt einen tibetischen Lama in Meditationshaltung auf einem Lotospodest. Er trägt eine aufwändig verzierte Mönchsrobe und einen separat gearbeiteten Hut. Während die rechte Hand die Lehrgeste (vitarka-mudra) ausführt, ruht seine Linke im Schoß. Halbrunder, gestufter und ornamental verzierter Sockel. Leicht best. Gesamthöhe 50 cm. - Provenienz: Seit ca. 30 Jahren in niedersächsischer Privatsammlung. -
