A BOEHM PORCELAIN "SYMBOL OF FREEDOM" BALD EAGLE GROUP, SIGNED, 1982, hand painted in naturalistic colors on bisque porcelain and realistically modeled as a vigilant American Bald Eagle perched on an ancient gnarled branch, guarding two chicks and an unhatched egg within a twig and leaves nest, stencil labeled on reverse side "SYMBOL OF FREEDOM / Celebrating the Bicentennial of the American Bald Eagle as the symbol of the United States / 1782 -1982," numbered 15 and raised on an oval carved oak base, height: 31", width: 33", depth: 29"; including a custom rectangular Lucite cover on a conforming Incarnat Turquin marble pedestal stand, fitted for illumination, height: 73 3/4", width: 38", depth: 28". Note: This Boehm eagle group is a tour de force in porcelain and commemorates the 200th anniversary (1782-1982 of the Bald Eagle being chosen by the founding fathers to represent the new nation. It's complex kiln fired construction is composed of over 300 parts. The two eaglets represent the first two hundred years of the United States and the unhatched egg, the next 100, all placed under the protection of the majestic yet powerful eagle with a fierce expression. This Symbol of Freedom eagle group is numbered 15 and comes from the original owner. Number 1 was presented to President Ronald Reagan on June 10, 1982 from the City of Philadelphia.
