A REGENCY STYLE THREE PART SILVERPLATED AND MIRRORED PLATEAU, BY T & J CRESWICK, SHEFFIELD, EARLY 19TH CENTURY, of rounded rectangular form with a scrolling shell and acanthus cast border enclosing conforming mirrored panels within a flat frieze, raised on lion's mask and paw feet flanked by tapering foliate details, each section stamped with the Creswick eight crossed arrows lozenge mark. Height: 3 1/2" Width: 57" Depth: 19" Note: Thomas and James Creswick were a father/son silverplate firm in Sheffield, England that registered its first crossed arrows mark in 1811 for production of old silverplated Sheffield wares. In 1852 they commenced electroplating and established a good reputation with clientele throughout the world. The firm was to last throughout the 19th century until finally selling both the business and trademark to William Hutton & Sons Ltd in 1902.
