A LALIQUE "TWO FISH" FROSTED CRYSTAL SCULPTURE, ENGRAVED SIGNATURE, 1960-1980, nicely modeled as two carp tightly swimming in a circular motion evoking infinity and detailed with polished highlights throughout, raised on a domed circular base, cursive engraved signature "Lalique ® France." Height: 11 1/4" Width: 10" Depth: 5 1/2" Note: Marc Lalique (French 1900-1977), son of the artist and founder René Lalique, who took over the Lalique family business in 1945 upon his father's death. His rebuilding and modernizing of the factory after the destruction left by the Nazi's during WWII is nothing short of remarkable. His technical skills combined with education at the prestigious Ecole des Arts Décoratifs gave him the abilities to lead the company and create many new items in crystal, such as the example here "Deux Poissons" which debuted in 1953. His daughter Marie Claude Lalique took over the reins of the company upon his passing in 1977.
