Qian Gu, Nickname: Shubao, Pseudonym: Qingshi Chinese, 16th century, male. Born 1508, in Suzhou (Jiangsu); died after 1574. Painter, calligrapher. Figures, landscapes. Qian Gu was unable to study as a child as he was an orphan. He became a pupil of the painter Wen Zhengming (1470-1559) and began to read as many books as he could. He was interested in literary composition, calligraphy and even epigraphy, and gradually established a reputation as a poet, calligrapher and painter.
