是书作者齐默曼博士为20世纪初期德国著名中国瓷器收藏家，同时也是德累斯顿陶瓷器收藏馆馆长。所选藏品以德累斯顿陶瓷馆的藏品为主，兼收英国大英博物馆，柏林东方艺术博物馆，汉堡艺术博物馆等收藏机构藏品，同时亦刊载部分名家私藏。全书分两卷，共数百页图版，前文后图，每页或一页多图，或一图多器，按年代排序，其中以明清瓷器为主，并选《历代名磁图谱》所载图片与实物对照，是研究德国所藏中国陶瓷器之重要文献善本。保存较好。
