Chinese Ming Dynasty Period, famille verte monochrome Meiping jar. The porcelain shaped into a traditional Meiping form, thick potted, with a narrow base, wide body, slender neck easing to form a petite opening, with emerging slight ring line mouth rim, raised on round flat foot base. All reserved hand painted ornamentations are rendered in famille jaune design color. Meaning "the green family". Overglaze enamel decoration on export and Imperial porcelain. Developed during the Ming dynasty from multicolored decorations with translucent enamels, applied during secondary firings on glazed porcelain. The green glaze creates a mottled effect around the rim which is likened unto the blushing of human skin. This inadvertently gave texture, energy, and shading to the design. This inadvertently gave texture, energy, and shading to the design. This piece displays a subtle sheen as the light ricochets across the finely glazed exterior.Height:14.13 inWidth: 8.25 inDepth: 8.25 in
