Chinese Ming Dynasty Period, Jiajing green & red dragons double gourd vase. Potted in a shape of double gourd resemblance, with two bulbous bellies conjoined together, suspending a short cylindrical neck, bulbous lower section finishing into a slender bottleneck at the top, with a straight opening rim, raised on slightly short splayed foot base. All reserved hand painted ornamentations are rendered in clean white underglaze base color which contrast against the cobalt green & red fine color. The upper and the lower main body adorned with snarling huge imperial five claws dragon careening through cumulus clouds above thrashing Li-shui waves in a dark brown color dragon squama rounded the bowl to chasing flaming pearl amidst flames. The middle and the neck festooned with repeating wanzi motif, upturning lappets, geometric pattern, and interlocking key fret, enclosed with double red rings lines. The Lines of the drawings are clear, the light and dark shades are subtle. The colors are harmonious, elegant and exquisite, the composition is sophisticated, simply a feast for the eye. The clay is very fine, with a brilliant glaze finish that was applied by a meticulous, the shape is uniformly proportioned.
