Pair of Chinese Ming Dynasty Period, blue and white elephant leg vases. The porcelain potted in tall baluster forms vase, with cylindrical body tapered toward flat base, slightly angled shoulder gently tapered toward tall neck supported the flaring and banded thick ring rim, raised on short splayed round foot base. All reserved hand painted ornamentations are rendered in clean white underglaze base color which contrast against the cobalt blue fine color. The exterior delicately decorated in continuous various flowers blooms, fresh foliage, grass, the rocky, all in the salubrious garden landscape. The neck decorated with phoenix tails. A characteristic heaped and piled effect, the underglaze grayish-blue concentrates in certain areas, bubbling through the surface of the glaze and turning a deep blue-black. The foot base rim and the upper open lip reveals the cut edges during the making process left unglazed with grayish creme-brown ground and dark spots of firing marks. This inadvertently gave texture, energy, and shading to the design. The clay is very fine, with a brilliant glaze finish that was applied by a meticulous, the shape is uniformly proportioned.Height:10.63 inWidth: 3.63 inDepth: 3.63 in
