Stunning, Large Chinese Ming Dynasty Period, blue and white figurines motif porcelain double gourd vase. Potted in a shape of double gourd resemblance, with two bulbous bellies conjoined together, suspending a tall cylindrical neck, bulbous lower section finishing into a slender bottleneck at the top, with a straight opening rim, raised on slightly short splayed foot base. All reserved hand painted ornamentations are rendered in clean white underglaze base color which contrast against the cobalt blue fine color. Blue and white porcelain in Chinese it is called Qing Hua Ci. It is the most important variety of ChinaÂs porcelain. It was originated in the Yuan Dynasty. Its color does not easily fade and durability is longer. It used cobaltous oxide as the colorant. Patterns were directly painted onto the inner body and burnt after glaze was applied on it. The upper and the lower main body adorned with various pursuit some figures on the field beside the pavilion among dense tree and flowers blooms, banded and enclosed with upturning lappets, repeating scrolling ruyi, and geometric petals.
