France, 18th century
Jean-Baptiste I Tilliard (1786-1766) and his son Jean-Baptiste II Tillard (1723-1797), are considered as two of the most important cabinetmakers of the 18th century, working primarily on seating furniture for the Palace of Versailles, for the Marquise de Pompadour, the Marquise de Soubise.
