款识：梅圃大哥大人阁下……小弟赵之谦顿首，四月初四日。钤印：赵之谦说明 水墨纸本 镜片“梅圃先生”即舒梅圃，清晚期杭州鼎和当铺老板。舒梅圃对于赵之谦既是至交好友又情同亲缘。赵之谦无论在北京、温州还是江西期间，若家中大小事，如告贷借款、与家族联络等诸事多有劳舒梅圃，他们之间往来通信很多。根据此信内容大致可知此番二人通信与赵之谦女儿桂官有关，赵之谦曾经为了把长女桂官接到杭州与家人一起居住，物色可安居的房子，曾写信给在金洞桥开当铺的好友舒梅圃，希望能与梅圃分住。此番回信想来女儿已经平安到达。此外信札所言皆是端午节应酬之际诸大人索画过多，满腹牢骚无可述，又作古风一首，希望发发牢骚能免人索画。
