Colombian 'No Oil' Emeralds
Colombian emeralds with their characteristic bluish green colour, are deemed geologically speaking the purest emeralds in the world because the deposits are the only ones on earth found in sedimentary host rock rather than in igneous rock. Most emeralds available on the market today have been enhanced in some way. Untreated emeralds (referred to in the trade as "no oil") are exceptionally rare. Lot 632 and 649, are examples of top quality "no oil" Colombian emeralds.
