The model after Galle.Surmounted by a crisply cast cone finial on a cast openwork lid, the side handles formed as semi-clad Classical figures over the head of Mercury, on a circular socle, raised on a verde antico stepped pedestal set with anthemion and lotus leaf mounts, the 4 inch signed white enamel Roman and Arabic dial with matching gilt hands, the large circular movement with pinned pillars, silk suspension and a large outside countwheel for the hourly strike on a bell height 56cm; width 18cm; depth 18cm注脚Pierre-Philippe Thomire (1751-1843) was an important bronze sculptor during the First French Empire. He was appointed Ciseleur de l'Empereur Napoleon, and produced high-quality clocks, candelabras, bas-relief figures and ornaments. He also collaborated with Odiot for the cradle of the King of Rome, which is now in the Kunsthistorisches Museum in Vienna.A clockmaker by the name of Sirost is recorded working from rue Bertin-Poiré from at least 1806-10 and from rue des Fontaines in 1840.
