盞敞口,口下有棱,深腹,圈足。內外施罩亮澤柿紅釉,發色如霜柿,色澤沉鬱古穆。口緣釉呈深褐色,褐中帶紫,口沿下呈赭色,隱約可見線狀結晶紋。盞內釉層凝厚飽滿,近心處為深藍色,色澤溫潤。外壁釉不及底,近底處垂釉,圈足露胎處呈褐色。建陽窯為宋代名窯之一,又稱「建窯」、「烏泥窯」,始於晚唐,盛於宋,衰於元,以燒黑釉瓷聞名於世,釉面多條狀結晶紋,細如兔毛,稱「兔毫盞」。亦有燒成「鷓鴣斑」和「銀星斑」,別緻美觀。建窯柿紅釉原材料和建窯黑釉相同,然因溫度偏高、氣氛偏氧化後,而形成有別於主流的柿紅色。由於柿紅釉的形成為先黑後紅,故而柿紅色僅止於表層,裡層仍為黑釉,偶在細部有紅中帶黑。此種釉色變化多元、獨特且與眾不同的美感,尤受日本文人喜愛。
