Raymond Loewy's firm produced over 3,000 designs for NASA during the 1960s and 1970s. Although not designed by Loewy, this particular model was one of Loewy's favorites and he kept it close throughout his lifetime.
The present lot was suspended from the ceiling of Loewy's living room at his Monte Carlo residence.
