'H.M.S. Frolic escorting a convoy of Merchantmen from the Caribbean/to England met with the U.S.S. Wasp. A heavy sea was running & Frolic/had already lost her Main yard & suffered damage to the main top mast./This is the scene shortly after the action commenced. After losing one/half her crew & extensive damage Frolic hauled down her colours. Very soon/after, however, Wasp was forced to surrender to a superior British ship Poictiers (a 74).'
