Syria, 16th Centuryof shallow rounded form on a short foot with a wide everted rim, the rim with a cusped edge, decorated in cobalt-blue, green and manganese on a white ground, a roundel to centre containing a quatrefoil motif filled with a floral vine, surrounded by palmettes and split palmettes, the border with rock and wave design with foliate motifs issuing from the inner border, a band of foliate interlace and flowerheads to reverse
