AN ENGRAVED SILVER PEN CASE (QALAMDAN) Deccan, Central India, late 19th - early 20th century Of typical oblong shape, with rounded ends and casket-shaped lateral lid and lock, the interior with an inkwell (dawat) and a modern reed pen, the exterior fully engraved and decorated with polylobed cartouches filled with floral bloom and fretwork bands, the lid with a calligraphic band in naskhquoting Sura al Fath (48:1 and 3), 21.5cm long.
