Pair English 18 C Chamberlain's Worcester "Bengal Tiger" Pattern Plates, also known as "Dragon in Compartments." Gilding and enamels in good condition, 1 plate with a short hairline from the outside edge and 2 small glaze flakes. Diameter 9 3/4 inches (24.7 cm.). NOTE: Dating circa 1796-1798, this popular hand painted and hand gilt design is believed to be taken from early 18 century Chinese Kangxi Famille Verte Porcelain. A pair with armorial centers was sold at Christie's New York, Lot 48, 20 May 2008.
