Source of the collection: Quebec, Canada. A beautiful and very rare B/W porcelain vase. This vase has a very elegant, graceful, and flowing contour. It has an well-proportioned body, especially the upper section, and with a proportionally mouth than such vases made thereafter. This shape is typical for Kangxi B/W porcelain vases. The clay that forms the body is white and very fine, typical of Kangxi porcelain clays. This feature is common among early Kangxi porcelains. A double circles mark in underglaze blue is written at center of the outer base. The underglaze cobalt pigment is subdued and appears to adhere to the bottom of the glaze. These are important characteristics of early Kangxi underglaze, and differentiate Kangxi from later imitations. The vase of baluster body rising from a spreading foot to a waisted neck and galleried rim; the body painted with pheasants and peonies, they are looks exceedingly beautiful and vivid...... On the 16th year of Kangxi reign,the head Fo Liang county, where the imperial porcelain factory resided, prohibited the writing of reign mark on porcelains, in order to prevent that the sacred reign mark might be trashed when porcelain is broken.
