Lithograph, Bercuese, Henri Toulouse-LautrecOriginal coversheet for Berceuse (Lullaby), 1895, was one of sixteen cover sheets created between 1895 and 1896 by Henri de Toulouse-Lautrec (1864-1891) for the series Melodies de Desire Dihau. Dihua, a close friend of Lautrec, was a famous composer and bassoonist in Paris during the late 19th century.In this original 1895 print, Lautrec draws our attention to the left center of this loosely drawn image of a woman reaching down to rock a child's cradle as she sings Berceuse (lullaby) to a wide awake child, while a black cat barely keeps its eyes open..Black ink on wove paper. 13.8 x 10.6 inches
