A Chinese bronze tripod censer with a 6-character Xuande mark on the bottom and dating from the 18th century. The censer features 3 taotie masks around the body, 2 vertical handles, and an unusual 3-lobed shape. Dimensions are: 6 1/2 inches tall X 4 3/4 inches wide. All measurements are approximate. Condition: Minor wear from use. Provenance: From the estate of Mr. & Mrs. Martinson in northern Minnesota. Mr. Martinson's grandparents Andrew and Anna Martinson went to China in 1903 and Mr. Andrew Martinson died in China in 1913; the couple's son, Mr. Harold Martinson, our collector's father, was born in China, as was Mr. Martinson himself in 1931.
