A Chinese cinnabar frame with a black lacquer ground inset with white jade stone figures of people, cranes, and flowers. The frame dates to the Republic period but the jades are Ming dynasty. Dimensions are: the frame measures 42 1/2 inches tall X 12 3/4 inches wide, while the lacquer ground measures 39 inches tall X 10 inches wide. All measurements are approximate. Condition: It is in good condition. Provenance: From the estate of Mr. & Mrs. Levin.
