全祖望（1705－1755）字绍衣，号谢山，浙江鄞县（今宁波市鄞州区）人，清代浙东学派的重要代表人物，著名的史学家、文学家，博学才俊。乾隆元年（1736）会试中进士，入翰林院庶吉士，因不附权贵，于次年辞官归里，不复出任，专心致力于学术，相继讲学，足迹遍布大江南北，曾主讲绍兴蕺山书院，从者云集，后又应邀主讲广东端溪书院，对南粤学风影响很大。
