宋光宝[清]墨林今话作观葆。字藕塘，吴县（今江苏苏州）人，流寓广西桂林。临川李秉绶聘至粤教写花卉，遂开粤派，居古泉（廉）、宋绍濂皆沿其法。品最高洁。有弟为番禺令，绝不往还。善花卉、翎毛、草虫，工笔学北宋，逸笔宗陈沱江（括）兼恽寿平。其画有沈着无轻佻，卷轴之气盎然。有绢本设色花鸟屏八帧，标新领异，花鸟多不识名，欲于宋、元体中别创一派。
