Pair of Chinese porcelain lidded jars, potted into baluster shaped vessel, with tall cylindrical body, gently tapered toward the footed base, terminated the slanting shoulder before short wide neck and flat rim. The baluster jars are capped by a relatively tall bell-shaped lid, in form of a general's helmet, crowned with gilt simple round bud. The exterior delicately decorated with famille rose polychrome hand painting of waterside landscape scene, interspersed by dense of lotus floral motif with bats and auspicious character against ruby-red underglazed ground. Banded with interlocking ruyi on the neck.Mark on under-base, a seal mark, of six blue seal script -ZhuanShu- characters, JiaQing Reign Period of Great Qing.Measurements: 9" H x 5" Diam. (each) PROVENANCE:Acquired from a vast Connecticut estate collection in 2007 with records indicating that they were purchased over several years during the early 1900's and up until the 1915's from the JS Ltd Company New York. Pieces of history being passed on to the future.
