周以鸿，1921年出生于苏北世家，外祖父谭祖云与大舅谭少云、二舅谭小云号称海上三潭名重一时。当时许多上海名家如沈一斋、汪仲山、孔小瑜、郑午昌、张聿光、吴青霞等均为周府座上常客，具有深厚的情谊，所以能不拘门户之见而倾囊相授。是故周以鸿能贯通古今，兼工各科，融合各家之长而卓然成一大家，开创中国工笔绘画的新页。
