Highly decorated and rarely seen ornate stoneware desk item.Designed by William Thomas Shaw, the Isobath used a complex rotating internal hemisphere to meter out the flow of ink to its small dipping cup on the side. Produced briefly in the 1880s, Doulton used it as a base for its highly ornamental sprig decorations, with a lidded top and pie-crust saucer base. Impressed on the bottom DOULTON LAMBETH, with several patent marks, assistant marks, and artist signature EP. A unique and clever design from Doulton.
