Victorian, produced c. 1885 by American Encaustic Tiling Company.Four original decorative architectural tiles, hand decorated with nursery rhyme themes, including Jack & Jill. Presented in a decorative wooden frame. Some original masonry remains attached. One tile marked to back AETCO, for American Encaustic Tiling Company, founded in Zanesville, Ohio in 1875, producing their first glazed tiles in 1880 and embossed tiles in 1881. By 1890, they were the largest tile company in the world. The firm closed in 1935. Their decorative architectural tiles form a mural at the Borden's Dairy Factory in New York among other historic locations.
