Signature by the artist: "Dongcun Zhou Chen". One double seal of the artist: "Zhou", "Chen". Four collectors' seals: "shenpin", "Wang Shimin wo jin shang shuhua yin" etc. Zhou Chen, style name Dongcun, was the leading professional painter in Suzhou of his time. He was the teacher of Qiu Ying (ca. 1494-1552) and Tang Yin (1470-1523) and painted in the former style of the academic tradition of the South Song dynasty (1127-1279).
