Han Yu (born 1932), Peking Opera Scene, China, ca. 1970's, hanging scroll, 40,5 x 36 cm, ink and colors on paper. Inscription by the artist with signature: "Han Yu." One seal of the artist: "Painting seal of Han Yu" (Han Yu hua yin). Han Yu was from Liaocheng in Shandong province. He was a graphic artist doing cartoons and a member of the Hebei branch of the Chinese Artists Association. He became especially famous for his sketchy scenes of the Peking opera using very simplified, humoristic drawing and bright colors.
