Zhou Huaimin (1907-1996), Mountain Landscape in the Blue and Green Style, China, dated 1939. Hanging scroll, 108,6 x 50,8 cm, ink and colors on paper. Inscription by the artist and signature: "In the autumn of the jimao year (1939) I have read a poem by Shitian (Shen Zhou, 1427-1509) and painted this, Huaimin Zhou Ren". Two seals of the artist: "Seal of Zhou Ren" (Zhou Ren zhi yin), "Huaimin". One more inscription dated to the third month of the gengchen year (1940). Two seals. Zhou Huaimin, original name Zhou Ren, was a landscape painter from Wuxi in Jiangsu province. He studied landscape painting at the Beijing Painting Research society and taught landscape painting afterwards. He was member of the Peking Academy of painting and participated in many collaborative works together with other artists. - Property from an old Berlin private collection, bought by the father of the present owner in the 1960'ies - Minor traces of age.
