Lü Ye , Branch with Lizhi Fruits and Flying Birds, China, dated 1917, ramed, without glass, 140 x 79,5 cm, ink and colors on silk. On the lower right signature by the artist: "Lü Ye in the Study of the Crane Mountains, in summer of the dingsi year (1917)". Three seals of the artist: "Seal of Lü Ye" (Lü Ye zhi yin), "zhenshang" etc.This unusual painting is done in the typical style of the beginning of the twentieth century. While the fruits are depicted quite naturally in bright color, the branches and leaves of the tree are executed in a free manner with flat ink washing. Later the painting was ascribed to Xu Beihong (1895-1953) and a new signature as added at the left side: "In the fifth month of the bingxu year (1946), Beihong." Three seals of Xu Beihong were added: "Painting of Beihong" (Beihong zhi hua), "Traces of the wild goose" (hong zhua), "Xu". Additionally the seal "Calligraphy and painting - Property from an old German private collection, mostly assembled in the 1970's - Minor traces of age
