A RARE LARGE BRONZE DRUM, CHUNYU, China, middle-late Warring States period, 4th - 3rd ct. BC. Inscribed "Wen Jun" on the upper rim. - Property from a German private collection - Similar bells were published in E. von Erdberg, Chinese Bronzes from the Collection of Chester Dale and Dolly Carter, Schweiz, 1978, pp. 158-61, no. 90 as well as in J. So, Eastern Zhou Ritual Bronzes from the Arthur M. Sackler Collections, Arthur M. Sackler Foundation, 1995, pp. 399-405, nos. 82 und 83. Other similar, though smaller, bells were sold at Sotheby's NY, 18-03-2014, lot 111, and Christie's London, 10-11-2015, lot 5. Another bell of almost equal size was sold at Christie's NY, 19-09-2013, lot 1457 - Traces of age, part. rest.
