Pair Qianlong Chinese porcelain candle stands. Potted in tall spherical shaped, with conical tall necks supporting the shallow bowl on top, elevated from a round dish with flat cavetto rising a steep straight sides, above a spherical belly, all supported upon a bell-shaped prominent foot. hand painted ornamentations are rendered in clean white underglaze base color which contrast against the cobalt blue fine color. All exterior surface decorated with big floral blooms and archaic petals interspersed with scrolling ruyi, interlocking vines, fresh foliage, and auspicious ruyi pattern on the inner center belly, fillet foot upper rim, and key fret pattern on the foot base rim. A characteristic heaped and piled effect, the underglaze cobalt blue concentrates in certain areas, bubbling through the surface of the glaze and turning a deep blue-black. This inadvertently gave texture, energy and shading to the design. The glaze stopping before the foot rim, revealed the pale-creme ground, with orange and grayish firing marks.
