背面：十七日先书，郗司马未去，即日得足下书，为慰。先书以具示，复数字。吾前东，粗足作佳观。吾为逸民之怀久矣，足下何以方复及此，似梦中语耶？无缘言面为叹，书何能悉。丙戌春日，临奉味实仁兄正，于照。
钤印：于照之印、非闇 上款“味实”即曹味实，1940年代北京银行家，与张大千、溥心畬、于非闇等画家颇有交谊，张大千名作《仿唐人控马图》，画上即有“味实仁兄法家正之，大千张爰昆明湖上作”的题识。
