Description

芝麻竹是棕竹的特殊类别，多在竹干枝叶半枯萎后形成，因其深浅不一的细密纹路状如芝麻斑而得名。质地坚密，斑纹雅致，是明清之际制作扇骨的上等材质，因形成条件特殊，清中期后逐渐绝迹。拍品纹理自然，包浆莹润，古朴雅致，足堪把玩。
明代制扇重扇骨，《万历野获编》中称：“凡紫檀、象牙、乌楮，俱为俗制，唯以棕竹、毛竹为之者称怀袖雅物，其面重金亦不足贵，唯骨为时所尚。”当时所称的棕竹即指芝麻竹，足见其珍贵。
