龙泉窑窑业历史悠久，青瓷颇负盛名，因于南宋时烧造出粉青、梅子青釉色而为后世称颂。至元代，龙泉窑又创新了铁斑、镂雕、素胎贴花、模印等装饰技法，其中镂雕工艺复杂，且由于胎土收缩率的关系，胎体容易变形、开裂，成品难得。
拍品与台北故宫博物院藏元至明龙泉窑镂空花卉香薰装饰技法相同，但通体镂空装饰较之难度更大。花插由内外两部分组成，施青釉，内为小瓶，作插花之用，外壁折沿呈九瓣菱口形，腹部微鼓，自上而下镂雕卷草纹、缠枝花卉纹、龟背纹，纹饰线条流畅，增添花器的空灵之感，令人赞叹。 《碧绿—明代龙泉窑青瓷》，台北故宫博物院，2009年，页262、263，图146
