|此款铜镇选上等精铜铸制，通体鎏金，金光灿灿。鹿呈跪卧回望状，造型生动，神态逼真，铜铸作品中少有可与之匹敌者。在我国古代吉祥纹饰中，卧鹿亦名伏鹿，谐“福禄”之音，桃实是长寿的象征，因此具有“长寿福禄”的美好寓意。各种材质雕刻的动物形镇纸，自宋代起即为文房佳品，到明代则更加兴盛。明高濂《遵生八笺》中记载的镇纸“有古铜蹲螭、眠龙，有鎏金辟邪，卧马”……有“柏枝玛瑙蹲虎，酒黄水晶眠牛……其做法精妙如画，皆宋物也。”本件鹿镇名得其实，堪称“做法精妙如画”。此为明朝瑞兽镇中之精品，精炼铜所制，手头厚重，铸造风格极具明式，神态绝佳，纹饰细致。生动曲折，造型优雅，为案头文房佳器。配以精工雕饰的紫檀底座。
