Officer-of-the-deck model black spotting scope in oak box.
Produced by the Kollmorgen Optical Corporation under contract from the U.S.N. Bureau of Ships, this 10 power spotting scope was standard issue aboard line ships across the seas during World War Two. Heavily constructed from enameled spun bronze and coated in an early form of abrasion resistant rubber, this scope shows good condition with unchipped lenses and a straight body. The original coating and enamel is in good condition, and the felt lined oak presentation box- with its brass hardware and original naval badge- is a collectors item in its own right.
