First half 19th century, possibly French. The curved glass lid with a circular miniature depicting a young witch on her broomstick, in the company of an old woman, a black cat and an owl. The interior of the box and underside of the lid covered with tortoiseshell. Damaged: the lid's miniature and its tortoise bottom have become seperated from the lid's rim. D. 8 cm.
