Description
Translation provided by Youdao
Japanese porcelain sake jug, 19th century, white glazed with wrapped handle. Porcelain shaped to evoke rope wrappings around top and bottom of barrels, after the more common komokaburi wooden kegs used to transport sake. The jug's pouring spout has an open cork. Dimensions are: 12 inches high without handle X 11 inches diameter. All measurements are approximate. Condition: Wear to the wrapped handle, including some corrosion of the metal, but nothing that interferes with safe handling of jug; cork is crumbling. Small firing crack in base, near the rim.
