Francis Focer Brown (American, 1891â1971), March 2, 1918, monoprint on paper depicting a landscape. On verso the artist has labeled, 'March 2, 1918 Francis F. Brown Mitchell, Ind.' and signed in graphite by the artist in the margin of the mounting paper. We are only aware of one other monoprint having been offered on the secondary market. Dimensions are: image - 4 1/4"high X 6 1/2â wide, while the mounting board measures 6â tall X 8â wide. All measurements are approximate. Artist Biography: Francis Focer Brown (American, 1891â1971) was a well-known American Impressionist painter, as well as professor and head of the Fine Arts Department at Ball State University in Muncie, Indiana from 1925â1957, and Director of the Muncie Art Museum. He was also known as Francis Brown and Francis F. Brown. His work was exhibited frequently at the Hoosier Salon- Indiana Artists Annual, Herron School of Art Museum, Ball State University, Indiana State Fair, Indiana Art Club and others. Brown studied With J. Ottis Adams and William Forsyth (artist) at the Herron School of Art; Ball State Teachers College, B.S.; Ohio State University, M.A. Member Indiana AC; Hoosier Salon.
