Artist Biography: George Linton Herdle (American, 1868-1922) worked as a freelance artist and museum director. Herdle studied in Holland and Paris and exhibited his work at Corcoran Gallery of Art, Washington, D.C., the Pennsylvania Academy of the Fine Arts in Philadelphia, the National Academy of Design, New York, and the New York Watercolor Society. He was also President of the Rochester Art Club from 1902 until 1920. He taught at the Rochester Athenaeum and Mechanics Institute and was art director at the Memorial Art Garden of the University of Rochester.
